As part of Clackmannanshire's More Choices, More Chances strategy, a principal teacher post with specific responsibility for pastoral and school development - MCMC was created in each of the council's three secondary schools. Part of the remit of this post is to liaise with and develop partnerships in order to support young people into positive and sustained destinations.
In Alva Academy the PT MCMC has developed strong partnership working with youth work, attendance and welfare, social work and Careers Scotland amongst others. A Careers Scotland key worker post was also allocated to each secondary school through the council's MCMC strategy.
This partnership working aims to motivate, stimulate and raise the attainment and achievement of young people requiring MCMC by increasing self-confidence, optimism and aspiration.
