Planting, playing and learning outdoors - Adelphi Nursery School

Introduction

Adelphi Nursery School is in the Gorbals area of Glasgow and has a staff of six. A few years ago, the staff decided, in conjunction with Glasgow City Council, to look at ways of using their garden space. They wanted to be able to offer children the choice of playing outside when they wished.

The following pages describe the stages of the project and how the children now use their garden. Headteacher Liz Devine talks through the project in a series of audio clips, and there are photos taken by the children themselves.
