Going boldly: a community of good practice in special schools and units

The conference brings together practitioners from special schools, units and other forms of provision for pupils with additional support needs to engage with three key questions:

  • How good are we now?

  • How good can we be?

  • How can we get there?

This conference aims to give participants the opportunity to:

  • converse with other practitioners from across Scotland

  • share ideas and approaches

  • find out about good practice

  • debate the future direction

  •  consider how to continue to improve special schools, units and other forms of provision for pupils with additional support needs in line with best practice.

The programme will include:

  • an update on how well special schools, units and other forms of provision
    for pupils with additional support needs are doing, as reported by HMIE;

  • a keynote address on how good can special schools be

  • a wide range of events, displays, exhibitions conversations and debates.
