Sex and Relationships Education

Sexual Health and Relationships Education (SHARE) Extract

SHARE is a research-based school-delivered sex and relationships education programme. It is aimed at young people aged 12 to 15.

The programme was originally piloted in the early 1990s in Lothian and Tayside. It has been further developed to provide a 'gold standard' programme based on tried and tested evidence of what works in influencing skills and attitudes. This will help young people to develop healthy, happy relationships.

Over the last year, the contents have been enhanced. The programme reflects a more inclusive approach to reflect the needs of those who have already been using the SHARE programme in the classroom. The enhanced SHARE materials are available from Health Scotland for those who have completed SHARE training.
