Topic Surgeries provided visitors with the opportunity to listen to and have discussions with many of the presenters at the Scottish Learning Festival in a friendly and informal setting.
Taking place within a designated area in the main exhibition hall, Topic Surgeries were conducted across round tables hosted by educationalists over the two days of the event.
The presenters facilitated informal discussions with their audience on a variety of projects and educational topics. Discussions were deliberately short, lasting only 12 minutes, with the aim of focusing the talks on the information needs of the participants, and the sessions were be repeated four times per hour.
After each 12-minute session, presenters and visitors were invited to conclude discussions to allow other visitors to take their places, where the talks could then be repeated or contextualised with a new group.
The Topic Surgeries were not bookable. You ould have joined a Topic Surgery discussion at any time.
