The Scottish Learning Festival 2008 welcomes the return of the Learning in Practice area. This popular area has been relocated into the main exhibition within Hall 4 of the SECC.

The Learning in Practice area has been designed to complement the conference programme and exhibition, bringing together a local, international and cultural dimension to the Scottish Learning Festival.

Local Authority village

Find out more about the strategies and resources being developed by each local authority:

  • to meet the needs of learners across the country using Curriculum for Excellence
  • meet practitioners and local authority staff to share knowledge and ideas
  • learn how local authorities are using Glow.

Cultural village

Discover a range of resources and services available from national providers that can help young people to develop a knowledge and understanding of Scotland’s culture.

  • learn how you can use learning resources from your organisation in the classroom, virtually, for excursions, for professional development, or for educational activities.
  • take away information packs on the projects and initiatives undertaken by Scotland’s national cultural organisations that underpin Curriculum for Excellence.

International village

A number of international teams will be available to discuss:

  • an array of projects involving work with countries across the globe to help young people develop a knowledge and understanding of the world and Scotland’s place in it.
  • find out more about school links, exchanges and overseas visits
  • see demonstrations of the ways organisations are using ICT to facilitate international education.
