Bookstart in Scotland

Bookstart in Scotland is part of the UK-wide Bookstart programme, which encourages all parents and carers to enjoy books with children from as early an age as possible by giving them free books.

Forestry Commission Scotland

Forestry Commission Scotland works with schools to encourage the use of Scotland’s trees, woods and forests as a resource for learning and to show forestry as an exemplar of sustainable development.

The National Archives of Scotland (NAS) runs a free educational website, Scottish Archives for Schools, to support the teaching of Scottish history, as well as wider areas of the Scottish curriculum, in schools and colleges.

National Library of Scotland

The National Library of Scotland (NLS) is Scotland’s largest research library, housing millions of books, manuscripts, music, moving images and maps covering virtually every subject.

RCAHMS

The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) is responsible for recording, interpreting and collecting information about the built environment.

Scottish Music Centre

The Scottish Music Centre is both a public service and a membership organisation, based in the City Halls, Glasgow. The Centre actively promotes our country's new music both at home and worldwide. A key element of the Centre's work is the Education and Outreach Programme.

Scottish Screen Archive

The Scottish Screen Archive, now part of the National Library of Scotland, holds Scotland’s Moving Image Collection. This collection of films illustrates ordinary people’s lives, Scotland’s industrial history and the changing patterns of Scottish society since the birth of filmmaking in 1896.

British Antarctic Survey

British Antarctic Survey is the UK’s national Antarctic operator. For 60 years it has been at the forefront of scientific research into important issues including climate change, biodiversity and ozone depletion. Scottish Museums Council

Scottish Museums Council (SMC) is a lead strategic agency and membership body for over 340 museums and galleries across Scotland. The promotion and development of learning opportunities provided by the heritage sector are important areas of its work.

Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) works with schools to ensure that children have the best opportunities to discover the wonder of the natural world. We support learning outdoors, develop resources, and help schools to access natural heritage information.

Scottish Screen is the national screen agency for Scotland, with a strong educational remit. It supports projects that use the power of moving images to deliver learning which is inspiring, inclusive and active.
