Seminar Description

This seminar will share the story of how powerful and practical CPD can and does make a difference. Joyning the Learning started with a Magic Castle which cast its spell on teachers and children all over Scotland.

Then an Unsinkable Ship, a Very Important Bear and a sad dragon in search of Fairyland gave teachers the opportunity to spread the approach.

The Joyning publications and courses were designed to give teachers practical help to reintegrate the primary curriculum and put the fun back into teaching and learning.

They certainly achieved this aim. More importantly those at the chalk face have had the confidence to make the methodology their own.

Teachers have rediscovered their creativity and their own ways to put the sparkle back into their classrooms.  The ripple effect has been fantastic.

The initiative has given teachers permission, trust and confidence to take risks, to do things differently, to empower the children and to savour the results when the children exceed their expectations.

In short to make their classrooms places where the four capacities - confident individuals, successful learners, responsible citizens and effective contributors- are developed not only for the children, but for themselves. True CPD!
