| Seminar Description | Scottish theatre companies have a rich and highly respected track record of working with schools and colleges to deliver an exciting and innovative programme of performances and participatory activities that help children and young people to become successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens. Engaging with theatre can change young lives. Theatre is the ideal mechanism to help educators deliver the outcomes for the Expressive Arts within the Curriculum for Excellence, enabling young people to “experience the magic, wonder and power of the arts” and enhancing and enriching their learning through partnerships with professional arts companies, creative adults and cultural organisations. Both TAG and Visible Fictions, two Glasgow-based theatre companies for children and young people, are exemplars in this field, delivering a broad programme of activities in Scottish schools; creative experiences which challenge, stimulate, provoke and illuminate all those who participate. Creative staff from TAG and Visible Fictions will host a seminar showcasing recent projects they have delivered in Scottish schools and demonstrating how collaboration and partnership working with local authorities facilitates the delivery of both local and national strategic outcomes, both within Expressive Arts and across the Curriculum for Excellence. |
