Seminar Description

Enterprise in Education has been at the forefront of Scottish education for the past five or six years though the Determined to Succeed strategy. It has proved to be an excellent vehicle for engaging teachers and pupils in developing an awareness of the world of work, career choices, entrepreneurship and opportunities for partnerships with employers.

The Scottish Government has extended the financial support for Determined to Succeed over the next three years.

Fiona Hyslop, in the recently released Skills for Scotland report, wrote: “We are committed to developing Scotland’s worldwide reputation for excellence in enterprise education.

We need to continue to create an enterprising culture in our schools …….”

The Pathways Through Enterprise platform aims to take individuals through several connected presentations of enterprise in education, showing how it can be monitored, evaluated, further developed and supported.

Pathway 4 Opportunities for Embedding Enterprise Skills for Life and Work. The development of enterprise skills for life and work is beginning to embedded itself into the pupils’ education pathways  in many schools and this is no more obvious that in the opportunities that are being made available for pupils to progress along the vocational pathway. This presentation will showcase some of the new areas that have been successfully developed and how local authorities are taking a proactive approach in making them more “in-house”, addressing local needs and making them more self-sustaining for the future.
