| Seminar Description | The advent and skilled implementation of ACfE is the opportunity for teachers and schools in Scotland to make learning and teaching relevant, engaging and exciting for all. Education for Citizenship with a global or international dimension is an area with rising influence. Teachers have a duty to explore and develop their own and their children's attitudes and perceptions to fully appreciate their place in the world and realise Global Citizenship. This session is designed to clearly and succinctly demonstrate creative, cross-curricular work which encourages active learning. Examples of some of the work can be seen at www.stthomasrcprimary.org.uk. This session stresses the importance of embedding partnership work into the curriculum and into a school's ethos sustainably. Teachers may then identify opportunities to pursue CPD with an international perspective. When building relationships with partner schools communication is key; be it face to face, using the post, or remotely via video conferencing, shared web space or email. Human and personal resources play major roles in the planning and delivery of such activities but ICT skills can be vital, this session will explore appropriate resources and skills which can compliment your work. Through our work real friendships have been made and the learning has proved revealing and enjoyable for all involved; children, teachers, parents and the wider community. This session is for anyone who wishes to pursue Global Citizenship and International work in a meaningful, worthwhile and ultimately hugely rewarding way |
