Seminar Description

During Glenburn School's recent HMIe report, the school's implementation of Hungry for Success was deemed an example of best practice.

In addition, Glenburn School was runner-up in the Scottish Education 'Healthy Living' Award 2007.

An outline of the school's approach to implementing the recommendations from Hungry for Success and examples of associated initiatives and activities which are embedded in Glenburn School will be given, for example:

  • School Health Group (Fit 4 Life)
  • Working with catering staff
  • School health initiatives
  • Physical, emotional and mental well-being
  • Personal Social and Health Education programme - Primary 1 to S6
  • Cross curricular links.
  • Extra Curricular activities
  • Reaching parents, families and the community
  • Palm Court CafĂ©. (Enterprise activity/simulated work experience.)
  • Annual Health Fair.
  • Working with outside agencies.
