Seminar Description

This seminar reports on work undertaken in schools across Scotland by researchers and teachers (members of the HEI group and members of associated schools groups) as part of the AifL programme.

Eager to explore the practical implications of the relationship between CfE and AifL, researchers and teachers worked together to reflect on how CfE and Aifl might come together in practice.

The seminar will be in three parts reflecting the important inter-relationship of research, policy and practice in successful innovation. The first part will present evidence from the investigation exemplifying ways in which different teachers in different schools were beginning to make sense of the relationship between CfE and AifL.

This section will conclude by reflecting on possible implications for practice. The second part of the seminar will identify a number of key issues emerging from the study and will explore with seminar participants their perceptions of how these key issues might be addressed if curriculum, assessment and learning and teaching are to be aligned in ways that support young people to become successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens.

In the final part of the seminar, a member of the national policy community in Scotland will reflect on possible policy implications arising from the study and the seminar.
