| Seminar Description | One of the four aspects of Curriculum for Excellence is learning through interdisciplinary projects and studies. Many schools are recognising and exploring the potential for effective learning and teaching through this context. An interdisciplinary approach enables the learner to make connections across curricular areas, transfer knowledge and apply skills in a variety of situations. It affords greater opportunity for challenge and creates scope for personalisation and choice. This session aims to provide a very practical forum for practitioners to see and hear about innovative approaches to interdisciplinary studies and projects in Primary Schools from across several local authorities. Calling upon the expertise of Primary School staff and pupils, we will explore the successes and challenges of this approach to learning, with exemplification through photographic, written and filmed evidence. We will look at a variety of projects, showing how they are developing the purposes, principles, experiences and outcomes in Curriculum for Excellence. We hope to create opportunity for participants to share, reflect upon and learn from their colleagues’ experiences as they themselves continue on this journey. |
