Here’s just a taste of some school activities that took place in 2008…
In Aberdeen schoolchildren discovered what archaeology can tell us about animals in the past, such as the creepy crawlies we shared our houses with, the pets we nurtured and the animals that fed and clothed us.
(University of Aberdeen)
In Edinburgh children went to Holyrood Park to discover what life in the Iron Age was like. Dressed in authentic costumes, they tried their hand at traditional crafts and went on a guided tour of the park with a Druid.
(Historic Scotland Ranger Service)
In Newtonmore, school groups explored a ruined township and then visited a recreated township at the Highland Folk Museum.
(Scottish Rights of Way and Access Society)
In South Lanarkshire, pupils went behind the scenes at a museum and learned how to be curators, made giant castle collages and went on a mini excavation.
