You don’t have to travel all the way to the Highlands to experience Loch Ness!

The 3D Loch Ness Experience in Edinburgh, presented by scientist and Loch Ness expert Adrian Shine, is a unique opportunity to learn about the loch and its monster in a state-of-the-art 3D multimedia show. 

All Scottish teachers and education officers are invited to view the 3D Loch Ness Experience free of charge. Teachers wishing to take up this complimentary admission offer should call 0131 225 2290.

School visits are supported with online work packs featuring pupil resources and teacher notes.

The 3D Loch Ness Experience engages pupils in weighing evidence, assessing veracity, and exploring misidentification, bias and hoaxes. Different sources of information are examined for usefulness or reliability. The presentation also focuses on the scientific method, using a simple ecological exploration of the loch’s various habitats, food chains and an elementary biomass pyramid.

The Loch Ness Exhibition Centre brings pupils face-to-face with real equipment from Loch Ness expeditions - including the micro-sub ‘Machan’, as well as a wealth of original footage, photographs and archive material.

The multimedia exhibition, designed and narrated by Loch Ness expert Adrian Shine, actively engages pupils and supports their learning during school visits to Loch Ness.

The Loch Ness Exhibition Centre provides a wide range of educational opportunities for visiting schools. The exhibition includes the flora and fauna of the loch together with scientific investigations into the life within Scotland's largest body of water.

Pupils enjoy and are challenged by the interactive exhibition.

The Loch Ness Exhibition Centre charts the history of the loch and its monster. It explores Scotland's geological past, its folklore and various research projects carried out on the loch. The exhibition also reveals discoveries made by researchers including man-made and natural environmental fingerprints left in the loch's sediment layers.
