Darvel Nursery School sent in the following details of its Homecoming activities...
In preparation for celebrating Homecoming children have been involved in a topic about Scotland. Initially staff mind-mapped with the children to discover what they knew about Scotland and then studied aspects which the children wanted to find out more about.
These included football, sport, Scottish poetry - Robert Burns - traditional Scottish food, traditional dress, Scottish artists, Scottish music and famous places.
On the 23rd January they held a traditional Homecoming celebration for the children with music, dancing, haggis, neeps and tatties and some poetry. Children dressed in tartan along with staff and children had a story about the life of Robert Burns and Tam o Haggis. A great day for all.
