Homecoming activities at Carleton Primary School, Glenrothes

Carleton Primary School sent in the following details of its Homecoming activities...

Following a focus week on 'Scotland and its Culture', we held an open afternoon for parents and friends, displaying pupils' work and delivering performances on dance, poetry recitals, music from the woodwind ensemble and drama. The afternoon was extremely well attended.

A display entitled 'The Homecoming' will remain in the front hall for the best part of this year and will be updated as new learning and teaching takes place and displays changed.

The DHT and PT are currently working on a programme of work to address Scotland and its Culture P1-7. This will be presented to staff for consultation and thereafter piloted for a year. Staff will decide whether this is taught through Curriculum for Excellence as a cross-curricular link or discretely, depending on their yearly learning and teaching plan.

Resources have been purchased to set up an impressive area on Scotland in our school library.

We have purchased the Open Top Bus Tours materials. The Edinburgh pack is currently in use with the P5 class School Ceilidh and Scottish afternoon for the elderly are planned for later in the year
