Alva Primary School sent in the following details about their Homecoming activities...
In conjunction with the Annual Scots Week celebrations the following activities took place:
Traditional storyteller in school for all classes
Annual Burns Competition for whole school
Annual P7 Burns Supper supported by Ricky Stewart, chef from the Glenskirlie House Hotel and organised and run by P7 pupils with Ricky doing the cooking supported by the pupils.
Primary 7 visit to the Scottish Parliament and meetings with Keith Brown MSP and Dr. Richard Simpson. The children also had a meeting with First Minister Alex Salmond.
P4-P7 pupils had a question and answer session with George Burley Scottish football team manager.
P2 classes assembly to which parents were invited and was about the life of Robert Burns.
Other events to support the homecoming:
P6 and P7 pupil vests to Scotland v Wales and Scotland V Italy at Murrayfield. Visit from some of the Scottish International Rugby squad as part of their Sporting Champions Visit day.They are currently involved in supporting an ex teacher now working in Nigeria by exchanging information and resources. They are currently involved in organising a Comenius project relating to health and culture with 5 other European schools.
The school's November assembly will focus on the theme of St. Andrew.
