Telling the story

Since becoming a School of Ambition, Barrhead has been actively transforming:

  • its curriculum through the development of drama
  • its role in the community through a higher positive profile and intensive work with parents
  • pupils’ wider achievement through greatly enhanced opportunities, from african drumming to video editing to belly dancing.

To support pupils in class and in SQA exams, intensive work has been done by a teacher of writing, working with teachers and pupils to ensure they are as best prepared as they can be to deal with the demands of different types of writing in diverse subject areas.

The school focuses on valuing and encouraging pupils and on encouraging them to aim higher.Barrhead has produced a range of resources to help pupils in their education and learning.
