“Living locally, learning globally”, is the principle theme underpinning Anderson High’s Transformational plan. Working closely with staff and students from Czech Republic Germany, Sweden New Jersey(USA) , Japan, South Africa, and Australia, they have, using ICT, developed shared learning programmes across and between continents. These include an S1 and S2 “Sharing Perspectives” course, to increase cultural understanding, a Biology course which includes sharing biology experiments and participation in bio-ethical debates. Inclusion is vital feature of the plan . ASN students have shared learning and reciprocal visits with Swedish partners and young people with social and emotional problems took part in a ‘Sharing Caring’ programme in a township in Cape Town South Africa.
A number of reciprocal study visits have taken place, which not only have facilitated knowledge and understanding across the global partnerships, but have ensured the development of shared curricular between and amongst partner schools.. The promotion of the student voice has also been a particular feature of the school’s transformation, with training provided to assist students’ participation in school leadership.
