ShP for Schools run fully managed social enterprise challenge days. During these events learners produce a business plan for their own electronic waste recycling company and then present to other learners and the ShP team, who act as investors.
Learning objectives
Learners develop awareness of the responsible recycling of electronic waste and gain valuable transferable business skills such as communication, organisation, creativity and teamwork.
Benefits
- ShP teaches the importance of social enterprise with professional backing from a reputable recycling company
- it increases awareness of the law (based on the EU Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment directive), and puts the political issue of sustainability on the education agenda
- ShP supports the winning team to run a viable mobile phone recycling company within their school
- all presenters are professional actors, CRB checked, with experience of working with young people.
