Supported by Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Stirling Councils, the Post Adoption Central Support (PACS) provide useful reading resources to help school staff understand and support children and young people with attachment issues ie the variety of behaviours which may arise after a child has lost his/her ‘primary carer' or experienced a family breakdown.
The two resources include:
Stop Wasting My Time! a booklet-form set of case studies which explains how attachment issues can affect the relationships, behaviour and achievement of children, including adopted children. It examines the characteristics of children with attachment issues and uses case studies to explore how schools and staff can help.
Adoption, Attachment Issues and your School is an information leaflet that succinctly outlines typical behaviours relating to attachment difficulties, why they occur and what you can do to help address these.
