| Author | Louise Hayward |
| Summary / abstract | The focus in this paper is on how assessment is developing in Scotland. The first two sections provide background information on the Scottish education system and the relationship between curriculum and assessment. While Hayward argues that there have been close links in Scotland for many years, she then explores the recent emphasis on developing a fully coherent assessment system which is in the best interests of all learners. Her final section focuses on the present major curriculum review, and considers the future for Scottish education. In particular, she reflects on how the system can best contribute to the aim of social justice for Scotland's children. |
