| Description | Road Safety Scotland which is part of the Scottish Government has recently launched an interactive website which has been developed to provide a lean-forward Road Safety Education (RSE) resource for children and young people aged between 10 and 18 who have additional learning needs. RSE provides all young people with a life skill that can allow them to become more independent, and less reliant on parents for lifts. It equips them with the knowledge and skills required to cross the road safely to enable them to: walk to school, go to the shop or catch a bus into town. Sometimes, a more vulnerable person can miss out on this important stage of growing up. There are many reasons why some young people feel uneasy about walking independently and a2bsafely.com deals with these within a supportive framework. It acknowledges the importance of good communications between teachers, who provide the education, and parents and carers who provide most of the on-road training. |
