A research report which discusses the findings of a study sponsored by the General Teaching Council for Scotland’s Teacher Researcher Programme. The study explored the impact of Glow on learning and teaching in the context of S3 Biology. Some S3 pupils had one third of their coursework delivered through Glow, and their results in standardised tests were then compared with other S3 pupils who had not experienced ICT-related teaching.

The research found that the pupils who had used Glow had performed better on the standardised tests than those who had not, by around a mean increase of 32 per cent.

Further analysis showed that the weaker students performed at least as well as their more able peers. In addition, in the end of year exam those students who had used Glow also performed better than those who had not, even though not all of the exam content had been delivered using Glow.
