Building the Curriculum 3: A framework for learning and teaching

A Scottish Government publication to help schools and establishments plan curriculum change.

Published in 2008, the document replaces the previous guidance on the 3-15 curriculum, the 5-14 curriculum and curriculum design in the secondary sector. It provides the framework for planning a curriculum which meets the needs of all children and young people from 3 to 18, ensuring a focus on developing the four capacities at every stage.

The school years 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 are to be spent on preparation for delivering approaches based on this guidance starting in 2010-2011.
