A Time of Opportunity: The Current Status of Sustainable Development Education in Scottish Schools

To gain a snapshot of the status of SDE, views were sought on where it stood in Scotland’s schools in 2007. Some 122 individuals playing a wide range of roles in SDE were questioned through face-to-face or telephone interviews or by questionnaire.

The central message from this report is that a real opportunity is currently available which, if fully grasped, would see the status of sustainable development education gaining more prominence, with its profile raised and its constituent elements fully integrated into a newly revised curriculum.
