A new post of Physical Education (PE) Development Officer was created in October 2006 to review the current provision of PE across Perth and Kinross and to support the move towards meeting the recommendation of two hours of PE for all pupils from August 2007. The subsequent review of the delivery of PE across schools indicated that not all pupils had access to two hours of quality PE as required.
Following on from this review a project was planned, initially to improve the quality and frequency of delivery of PE for all primary children across Perth and Kinross. The project aimed to increase motivation in children and young people and to develop choice within the physical education programme across schools. It also looked to develop greater inter-agency working between schools, Active Schools co-ordinators, Perth and Kinross Leisure, and the Sports Development Officers team.
