
Shortly after the publication of the National PE Review Group Report (2004), Highland Council set up a Physical Education working group to take forward the recommendations made in the report.
Highland Council was granted funding from the Scottish Executive in June 2005 to develop pilot schemes that addressed issues in both secondary and primary schools and would provide more time for PE, more choice in PE and develop opportunities to get more teachers of PE.
Three separate pilots were set up by the Council to look at new ways of delivering and managing physical education.
