Truancy

As a parent, you are legally responsible for making sure your child is educated. If they have chosen to do this through school, you must make sure your child attends school.

If you don’t make sure your child is educated, the education authority can apply to make an attendance order on you. If your child then doesn’t attend school, you may be prosecuted.
