This support package on the Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006 contains a range of materials for all staff working with children, young people and their parents.  The materials are designed to help schools consider the implications of the Act.

A parent-friendly leaflet has been designed that highlights what the Parental Involvement Act means for parents. This leaflet is available through schools or can be downloaded from this website.

Schools may wish to use this leaflet as the basis of their own communication with parents or schools may amend the text as appropriate to suit local circumstances.

More detailed information about the Parental Involvement Act is also available on the Parentzone website.  Schools may wish to use these materials to enhance the information made available to parents through the leaflet.  

'Making the difference' is a series of information packages for parents and schools to support parents involvement in their children's learning.

The format of the packages is designed to be as flexible and adaptable as possible, enabling local authorities, schools and parents to draw on and combine the materials in ways that best suit their local wishes and circumstances.
