Code GREEN

Image of a cassette with the green Numbers Count logo

The 'Code GREEN' national numeracy competition was run in conjunction with the ten Numbers Count posters and postcards that were sent to all state-funded schools in Scotland.

The Code consists of ten puzzles suitable for Primary level. Pupils were asked to solve each puzzle correctly, which would leave them with a set of ten numbers. These numbers could then be changed into ten letters by using a simple code.

The secret message from code GREEN will spell a six letter word and a four letter word that combine to make a mathematical term that is familiar to all pupils in Primary education.

Although the competition is now closed the Code GREEN resource can still be used as a fun approach to teaching numeracy.
