
The 'Code GREEN' national numeracy competition was run in conjunction with the ten Numbers Count posters and postcards that were sent to all state-funded schools in Scotland.
The Code consists of ten puzzles suitable for Primary level. Pupils were asked to solve each puzzle correctly, which would leave them with a set of ten numbers. These numbers could then be changed into ten letters by using a simple code.
The secret message from code GREEN will spell a six letter word and a four letter word that combine to make a mathematical term that is familiar to all pupils in Primary education.

Although the competition is now closed the Code GREEN resource can still be used as a fun approach to teaching numeracy.
