The Mathmatics Advisory Group Scotland (MAGS)  meet quarterly with the aim of supporting teachers of maths and numeracy in both primary and secondary schools across all local authorities. LA representatives are invited to the meetings, the hospitality being generously provided by local authorities in the central area. The meetings aim to provide a forum for dissemination of good practice, opportunities to discuss matters of policy and a chance for delegates to exchange information and views on local and national issues.

For further information, please contact the secretary, Trevor Leach (Newbattle Community High School) 0131 663 4191 or email leacht0@schools.mgfl.net

Recent presentations include Standard Grade and Higher resources, Interactive Numeracy, 5-14 Problem Solving, Numeracy across the Curriculum, Accelerated learning in Early Secondary Mathematics, and SQA updates. Issues addressed recently include problems in the supply of Maths teachers, the Scottish Survey of Achievement, SQA exam feedback, and the future of Standard Grade.
