Dylan Wiliam is nationally and internationally recognised as being at the forefront of innovative and imaginative approaches to learning and teaching. His work with Paul Black to produce the series of publications ‘Inside the black box’ is seen as rich support when engaging with ‘Assessment for Learning’.
This presentation was recorded in late March 2009 when Dylan was the keynote speaker at the National Numeracy Conference in Edinburgh. Although the focus was mathematics/numeracy, the majority of the presentation addressed quality learning and teaching. The nature of the presentation meant that splitting the recording into smaller sections was not appropriate.
The total length of the presentation is about 50 minutes. The content throughout is of the highest order and it is highly recommended that all teachers, irrespective of subject specialism, use this resource as an opportunity for reflecting on current practice.
Any feedback on this material is most welcome. This can be done through contacting the Numeracy team at Learning and Teaching Scotland or using the feedback facilities within the National Numeracy Glow Group.
