This resource allows you to view images of works by Scottish artists. Information on the work of art and biographical details of the artist are also provided.
Navigating this resource
The works of art can be found by choosing from:
Once you have selected one of these options, you will be presented with a page showing up to nine small versions, (known as ‘thumbnails’) of the works in the category selected, along with the titles of the works and name of the artist.
If there are more than nine works in the category you selected, you can move through the other pages by using the page turner bar at the top of page:

To view the information about a particular work, select (click on) either the title or the thumbnail image.
You will be presented with the page of details.
Biographies of artists
If you select a work of art, you can then view biographical details of the artist by clicking on the artist’s name. To get back to the details page, use the ‘back’ button on your browser.
Full screen versions of works of art
We have made the works of art available in two formats so that you can either see them at full size (e.g. with a projector in the classroom) or you can print them.
To see the work at full screen size select 'View full screen image of this work'. To get back to the details page after viewing the full screen image use the ‘back’ button on your browser.
To open a print quality image of the work select 'Open print version of this work'. On a PC you can then right click on the image to save it onto your computer. On a Mac you can click on the image while holding down the control key to save the image.
Please note that all the print versions have a watermark on them for security reasons.
To get back to the details page, again use the ‘back’ button on your browser.
Displaying the images
To view the images at their best you should maximise the browser window to use the full screen.
You should also ensure your computer monitor is set to display at the best colour quality it can. You set this in the Control Panel / Display Properties settings on a PC and on a Mac in the Display controls under System Preferences.
