This resource originated at Liberton High School in Edinburgh. It was the brainchild of Norman Adam, Principal Teacher of Music at the school, and with Norman’s assistance and dedication, has been further developed by Learning and Teaching Scotland into the national resource it is today.
The website at Liberton High School gained Enhancement Awards from Learning and Teaching Scotland in March 2004 and 2005 which enabled additional sections to be developed.
The web area provides an extremely useful resource for teachers and students of music. It is flexible: the site may be used by individual students or by groups, at home, within a library or at school. Each concept and explanation is accompanied by at least one short musical extract, providing invaluable guidance. Key concepts, instruments and explanations are cross-referenced so that they can be easily accessible.
The section on Access 3 to Intermediate 2 contains self-assessment quizzes which provide a convenient source of activities at the end of each topic.
