2.3 Grouped Frequency Tables If the range of data is so great that we cannot conveniently or sensibly make up a simple frequency table, where each and every data value is represented, we need to group the data to be able to illustrate and analyse it meaningfully. This applies particularly in situations where the variable is a continuous
variable, i.e. it can take any value within
a given range, to umpteen decimal places if necessary. In particular,
measurements fall into this category.
