Sky and its environmental charity partner Global Action Plan are launching the first of a number of schemes to encourage people to take small steps to reduce their impact on the environment.
The Appetite for Action challenge, which launches to primary schools in the UK and Ireland in September, will give teachers access to a free, step-by-step interactive online resource of activities and materials. These are designed to help educate children about the impact of food on the environment.
Opportunities will be provided for schools to link up with other schools participating in the programme via an interactive social networking part of the website called the Green Grub Club. They will be able to share their achievements, allowing parents and members of the local community to view their progress.
The challenge also includes the unique chance for one school to be a Sky News studio for the day!
Teachers can register for their schools to take part in the challenge now on the Appetite for Action website and find out how to get started. They can then join thousands of other schools as they kick off the challenge on the Appetite for Action Theme Day, 23 January 2009.
