The Awards Conference 2008

08 September 2008

The Awards Network in Scotland has organised the Awards Conference 2008, which will take place on Monday 6 October 2008 at Hilton Edinburgh Airport Hotel. The Awards Network in Scotland is a new forum of agencies that provide individual learning awards for young people in Scotland using a youth work approach.

The Awards Network has organised this event to raise awareness of the unique aspects of the range of awards available to value, recognise and accredit young people’s achievements.

The event will include:

  • the launch of Youth Scotland's new publication, ‘Amazing Things - A guide to the youth awards in Scotland’

  • guest speakers including Bernard McLeary, Chief Executive of Learning and Teaching Scotland, on how youth work awards support the Curriculum for Excellence agenda

  • a market place of awards providers

  • key stakeholders' panel with representation from awards holders, Scottish Government, commerce, youth work, Careers Scotland and Learning and Teaching Scotland

  • ‘Topic Tables’ for delegates to hear more about individual awards.

The day delegate fee is £60 including restaurant lunch and refreshments. Delegates will receive a copy of ‘Amazing Things - A guide to the youth awards in Scotland’. This is a free resource supported by Scottish Government and the publication can be ordered individually or in bulk by contacting Youth Scotland.
