LTS hosts Heritage Education Forum website

02 December 2008

The Heritage Education Forum comprises representatives from 12 national cultural organisations in Scotland.  Together they hold, conserve, enable and promote access to historic and natural environments, buildings and collections.

HEF aims to share information and best practice, establish active partnerships across the heritage sector, ensure more effective use of resources for all learners, and promote the value of and increase access to heritage learning.

HEF now has its own website developed by the Learning and Teaching Scotland Online Service as part of Scotland’s Culture, History and Heritage.

HEF online provides direct access to the education services provided by member organisations - school visits and programmes; workshops and CPD events; resources and materials; and information on the HEF members. Also published on the site is a downloadable paper, 'Heritage Learning and Curriculum for Excellence', which offers advice on how HEF partners support Curriculum for Excellence values and principles, and how heritage learning encourages innovative approaches to teaching, increases opportunities for out of school learning, and provides contexts for subject-based and cross-curricular learning.
