
The Scottish Government has published the Scottish Qualifications Authority exam results for local authorities for 2007-08.
The statistics, which are produced before appeals are considered, show that overall attainment in Scottish schools in 2007-08 was broadly similar to the levels attained in previous years.
A higher proportion of girls than boys achieved awards at all levels, by the end of all stages. In S5 and S6, this is partly due to higher staying-on rates for girls.

School pupils from across Scotland are to get the chance to broaden their knowledge of Robert Burns thanks to a special fund being provided by the Scottish Government.
Analysis of the Scottish Employer Skills Survey has consistently shown that employers hold the individuals that they recruit from colleges and universities in high regard. Three-quarters of Scottish employers who recruit someone straight from college consider that recruits are well prepared for the world of work. Over four in every five Scottish employers who recruit a recent graduate consider them well prepared for work. Where employers consider that any improvements are required, it is largely that college and university students need greater exposure to the work environment during their studies.
On 10 June 2008, the Scottish Government launched a consultation on the next generation of national qualifications in Scotland. Over half of the 1807 responses are now available to view via the Scottish Government website.
