  BBC Skillswise is a website aimed primarily at adults who wish to improve their English and maths skills using factsheets, worksheets, quizzes and games.
• BT Education Programme
  Sites for parents, children and teachers, with many links and activities; teachers' BT awards; parents online; software evaluation; games.
• Chess Scotland
  The extensive Chess in Schools section of this website has advice for teachers and chess club organisers, as well as news for players of all ages. There is also research on how playing chess can promote spatial and analytical intelligence and can improve problem-solving and decision-making skills. Members of Chess Scotland can play chess online against players from around the world. The software can be downloaded free.

  Interactive version of the well-known game to line up four counters.
• Content Generator
  This teacher-created site offers the tools to generate customised interactive e-learning materials such as games, quizzes and activities. The multiple choice generator is available to download free by registering with the forum.
• Electric Scotland
  Everything you wanted to know about Scotland and the Scots - from business to history, from famous Scots to food and music.
• Fear of Physics
  A friendly, non-technical website for visitors to come and 'play' with the laws of physics using quizzes and animations.
• Flash Word Search
  Find the science words in the puzzle.
• Hot Potatoes
  Hot Potatoes is a set of tools to help you create your own interactive assessment exercises. It includes six applications for producing interactive multiple-choice, short-answer, jumbled-sentence, crossword, matching/ordering and gap-fill exercises for the web. Hot Potatoes is not freeware, but it is free of charge for publicly funded, non-profit, educational users who make their pages available on the web.

  An internet search engine with a difference - it presents search results in the form of a mind map!
• Logic Mazes
  'Logic mazes' or 'mazes-with-rules' is the best way to describe the puzzles created by Robert Abbott. Find out about mazes and try the interactive puzzles.
• Multiple Intelligences
  Try the Birmingham Grid for Learning's interactive quiz to measure your eight intelligences, covering areas such as personal, spatial, logical and musical awareness.
• Natural Connections
  This is a new outdoor learning programme developed by the Countryside section of Fife Council Community Services. It consists of six challenging and enjoyable outdoor experiences, and is pitched at two age groups - 11 or under, and 12 or over.
• Penalty Shootout!
  Choose your goalkeeper, pick your history topic and answer the questions for your chance to beat the keeper! For one or two players.
• Quia
  Quia provides a variety of educational services, including a directory of thousands of free online activities and quizzes in more than 50 subject areas at all levels, together with tools and templates - on subscription - for creating different types of online activities, including flashcards, matching, word search, hangman, jumbled words, ordering lists, and cloze exercises. There are even quiz administration and reporting tools to monitor pupil progress.
• RDN Virtual Training Suite
  A set of free online tutorials designed to help students, lecturers and researchers improve their internet information literacy and IT skills. There are quizzes and interactive exercises to lighten the learning experience.
• Revision Central
  Designed for the GCSE curriculum, this site has plenty of useful resources and activities for NQ subjects.
• Revision World

  Revision World is a free resources for pupils and teachers providing revision notes, questions and downloads across a range of subjects.

• S-cool
  Pupil activities, teaching resources for various levels, careers advice.
• Topmarks
  This site provides easy access to teacher-reviewed educational web sites, to help teachers use the web in the classroom and to help parents to support the education of their children. There is no specific Scottish material, but many of the reviewed sites have Scottish links and references.
• Type Online
  This is a free online touch typing course. It provides plenty of exercises with instant feedback on your keyboard skills.
• Water Quiz
  How much do you know about water? Try the United Nations quiz - there are nine questions, with hints if you get stuck.
