Description

This three-part resource on soil was created by the Macaulay Institute. It includes the following PowerPoint and PDF documents:

  • An introduction to soils and soil terminology: Covers various aspects of soil such as profiles, horizons and the forming factors. The PowerPoint document includes an interactive question board to consolidate learning.

  • Soils and their main characteristics: Examines the three soil types; brown earths, podzols and gleys.

  • Soil catenas: Investigates the variation in soil types across an altitude range.

A series of posters accompany this resource and can be found on the Macaulay Institute website.

To open or save an Access file you will need to have MS Access installed on your machine. Click on the name of the Access database to save it to your computer.
