Higher Scottish History: Learning and Teaching Guide
One of the most helpful and informative web pages on the NQ History site is the Learning and Teaching Guide. It offers practitioners and learners the opportunity to see and hear the principal assessor, Mr Simon Wood, in a series of short video clips. Mr Wood gives an in-depth account of the compulsory Paper 2 unit and explains the composition of Paper 2, including the provision of sources and the expectations of examiners with regard to answering questions. He also gives specific advice on how to answer source comparison, source contextualisation and source evaluation questions.

This website would be of particular value to those teachers involved in guiding learners through their choices from S4 onwards. It gives examples of schools in Scotland that have developed Curriculum for Excellence inserts in specific year groups, with such applications as bat monitoring, Martian exploration, radio communication and renewable energy.
