In the near future, poverty reigns. Louison (Pinon) takes on odd-jobs in return for a room in a tenement above a butcher shop. The butcher trades in an unorthodox meat: human flesh. When Louison falls in love with the myopic butcher’s daughter, can the Troglodites, an underground group of vegetarian fanatics, come to his rescue? A superb film for senior students wanting to see a contrasting film from Jeunet’s later production of Amelie.
