Maximising Potential (MFLE mini-site)
Maximising Potential - part of the MFLE

Overview of the programme

The programme consists of six units. Each unit consists of points for reflection, one or more related tasks, and the task sheets needed to undertake the tasks.

If you need more help, or want to discuss the programme further, find information in Support and feedback.

Units 1 and 2: Taking account of the needs of individual learners

These two units focus on individual learners at risk. They suggest starting points for identifying barriers that may be hindering learning for specific pupils, or groups of pupils. They also propose a co-operative framework for devising strategies to eliminate or reduce the barriers identified.

Unit 1: Why aren’t they learning?

Unit 2: Responding to individual learning needs

Units 3 and 4: Reviewing current practice

These two units focus on understanding the needs that all learners share and propose a framework for auditing current teaching. The aim is to identify what is already done well and to prioritise areas for possible development.

Unit 3: Key needs of all learners

Unit 4: A framework for action

Units 5 and 6: Managing change

Unlike the earlier units that need to be worked through, these two units provide a bank of support from which you can draw ideas for development of points that have already emerged.

If you have identified issues not covered here, these materials can be used as exemplars for your own developments. Or you can make use of the contacts suggested in the Support and feedback section to ask for further help. This will allow your ideas and needs to be added to the programme as it develops.

Unit 5: Starting points for development

Unit 6: Making links
