Looked after children

Who Cares? Scotland is a voluntary organisation and Scotland’s leading provider of independent advocacy support for children and young people who are, or have been, looked after – up to the age of 25.

Set up over 30 years ago, the organisation currently works with 30 of Scotland’s 32 local authorities and directly with six independent providers of residential care.

Its overall aim is to speak out for children and young people in care. In its mission, it says:

    • Who Cares? Scotland exists to deliver the best quality independent advocacy service to children and young people who are, or have been, looked after in Scotland.
    • We respect and invest in children and young people working with them to ensure their rights are realised and their achievements recognised
    • We strive to enable children and young people to speak out, campaign for change and reach their potential.
