National organisations

There are numerous organisations and agencies, both national and local, who provide direct services to looked after children and young people and care leavers. Where an organisation or agency is linked to a specific area regarding looked after children, young people or care leavers then we have featured them on the most relevant part of this website.

For example, the link to Scottish Institute of Residential Child Care (SIRCC) is with the information on residential care.

However, Who Cares? Scotland, the Scottish Throughcare and Aftercare Forum and Scotland's Commissioner for Children and Young People have a clear national remit to work alongside these children and young people.

The services they provide are either advocacy-based, or they support the participation of looked after children, young people and care leavers either through specific participation projects or action groups. For this reason all these agencies are featured together.
