This series of eye-catching posters has been designed to help raise awareness of the main features of different genres.
Pupils may not always have read or analysed a wide range of genres, and Writer's Craft tasks where they are asked to continue in the style of a given genre may prove difficult. The posters can be used alone or in conjunction with appropriate extracts to draw attention to elements such as setting, characterisation, plot and style. They may also help pupils to broaden their reading preferences.
Each poster contains a description of the traits of a specific genre, all of which are helpfully coded to indicate whether it relates to the plot, characters, setting or other (this may include style and tone). The posters can be downloaded and printed for use in classrooms, and librarians may find them to be a useful tool.
